The Life of Riley

Before the Lords of Tryptophan compel us to kneel in genuflection at the altar of gluttony, I wanted to take a moment to wish my American friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. It is sometimes rather difficult for me to accept the imposed holiday memes at face value and not delve into for example, the tremendous suffering that the industrial farming practices inflict on the animals fattened for the feast. However, suitability of time and place is something that I’ve been learning. A poorly timed polemic is merely a wasted opportunity to successfully convince another about the merits of a position. Thus, we’ll save the remedying of historical misconceptions for another day.
So for what it’s worth Argonauts, I hope that you use the day as an opportunity to reflect upon your lives. Embrace cheer and challenge alike as only through the latter do we experience personal growth. And when it’s all said and done, life is but a vehicle for interior transformation. Whether you’re wandering lonely as a cloud or spending the day with friends and family, SMILE, LAUGH and behold the majesty of the mechanism by which the sun greeted you as you awoke (or stayed up from the night before – hey, no judgment here).
Whether Thanksgiving or Day of Mourning, embrace the day folks.
One love,
HJ
It was very nice of you to do this Henry! Enjoy not only this day, but each and every day!
Take care,
Shelby
You’re most welcome Shelby. Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you for your concern Henry. In Amerika we love plastic turkey and hormone drenched bull shit! We thrive on it. A bit of radioactive-mercury-laden fish from Japan and all is good.
There is no happy in thanksgiving ……… we are so busy polishing our credit cards for the next upcoming orgasm of delight that we don’t have time to look into our vehicle for interior transformation for fear that we may miss a sale item discounted enough to kill each other to obtain.
Cheers, Tube
Tube my good man, I think if we can get even one additional person to realize that in light of the blitzkrieg of Black Friday ads, we made a difference.
Happy Tryptophan day, H3nry! Here’s to growth, reflection and transformation that begins with ourselves and spreads outward.
Same to u bud. Enjoy the 4 day weekend.
Belated, but Happy Thanksgiving Henry. No turkey here, other than myself, but I did enjoy a quiet weekend with my husband and a book about Morphic Fields by Rupert Sheldrake.
Thanks for all you do here and for giving a shout out to the turkeys :)
Hi Debra, I thank you for the kind wishes and I’m happy that you and your husband enjoyed the day. I think Rupert’s work really forces us to challenge some of the assumptions that we consider to be “laws.” Dunno if you’ve ever seen this one, but figured you may like.
Keep well :)
Thanks Henry! I have not viewed that one yet.
Greetings Henry,
Enjoying the Riley song.
I hope your embraced day was full of grace.
Oh how the day opens up when we set aside all the “shoulds and dos” imposed by who?
:)
Hello Eva, I hope that you have also been well. Set aside, set aside, set aside… I love that advice. Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.
Repeat action.
Ditto.
