Sunday Matinee: The War on Democracy

A discussion with a fellow blogger recently reminded me of the huge information gap that exists between the general American public and the rest of the hemisphere regarding US policy towards Latin America. (Just wanted to say thank you for the reminder. Here’s a link to Electrica in the Desert where Claire raises awareness on the often neglected narratives interwoven with the march of empire.)  In the award winning film The War on Democracy, journalist and documentary filmmaker John Pilger explores the relationship between the invisible hand that operates unchecked in Washington DC and the other countries in the hemisphere.

The following quote is taken from Pilger’s website:

“Using archive footage sourced by Michael Moore’s archivist Carl Deal, the film shows how serial US intervention, overt and covert, has toppled a series of legitimate governments in the Latin American region since the 1950s. The democratically elected Chilean government of Salvador Allende, for example, was ousted by a US backed coup in 1973 and replaced by the military dictatorship of General Pinochet. Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador have all been invaded by the United States.

John Pilger interviews several ex-CIA agents who took part in secret campaigns against democratic countries in the region. He investigates the School of the Americas in the US state of Georgia, where Pinochet’s torture squads were trained along with tyrants and death squad leaders in Haiti, El Salvador, Brazil and Argentina.”

Ockam’s razor is often described by the following analogy – If you’re on a farm and hear footsteps, think horses and not zebras. Obviously our consideration would be somewhat different if we were Masai tribesmen living on the African plain. But I digress. People often look to a veiled cabal of “illuminated” men to explain the atrocities perpetrated in the world today. In keeping with Mr. Ockam’s principle however, the adherents of Weishaupt’s doctrine are unnecessary to explain the wanton disregard for the value of non-Caucasoid lives in every corner of the globe.

In the 1970s Archbishop Oscar Romero pleaded with the self-proclaimed Christian, Jimmy Carter for a cessation of the aid provided to the military junta slaughtering the people of El Salvador. Carter refused. Romero would be assassinated while delivering mass shortly thereafter. There was no secret conspiracy necessary here. The practice of funding, training, and offering military aid to power hungry psychopaths that seek to topple any elected government aiming for a more egalitarian approach to resource allocation is not limited to El Salvador.

The notion that a conspiratorial cabal is unnecessary however does not in and of itself negate the presence of one. I once believed and defended the position that this is a nation of laws and not of men. Upon a closer examination of the historical record however, it became apparent that the rule of law is merely the public façade of rules promulgated by men who exist outside the confines of law. This is analogous to the exoteric/ esoteric dichotomy that exists within the sphere of religious doctrine.

I’ll leave you with the following to consider. Way back in the day when beepers exemplified upward social mobility and Rob and Fab laid all blame on the rain, I was taught that the Gulf of Tonkin attack provided the justification for a Congressional resolution allowing for military intervention in Vietnam. Recently declassified NSA documents have revealed that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a fabrication. 60,000 healthy young Americans and millions of defenseless Vietnamese villagers dead over a false flag operation.

Just ask yourself, who has the power and authority to stage an attack on a US destroyer, deceive Congress and goad the American public into sacrificing their sons? Even if you weren’t alive during the Vietnam era, the script should sound familiar as it plays out time and time again. The colonization of Iraq was also based upon a lie, followed thereafter by a media blitz grounded in self-referential evidentiary support. I don’t think anyone can legitimately believe that the invasion of Iraq was the sole work of George W. Bush, Condoleezza Hemings  Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney. Slanting the global narrative in the approved light to justify unfettered butchery required more than the efforts of this motley crew.  Not a single war crime was ever levied against the architects of the illegal war however, while Julian Assange languishes at the Ecuadorean embassy in London for revealing the illegality. This is rule by law.

With Freemasons and Theosophists targeted as the source of all tyranny by the unsophisticated, the real conspirators operate in plain view wielding the force majeure of the state. No more than 20 AIPAC supporters strong armed the US taxpayer for $800 billion under the guise of aiding distressed homeowners, recorded no minutes of the manner of disbursement, and included a provision that the decisions of then Treasury Secretary Hank Paulsen cannot be challenged in ANY court.  The money could therefore be disbursed according to Paulsens’ whims, with no fear or retribution for failure to comply with the objectives expressed to gain Congressional passage of TARP.  And yet we still doubt a Zionist banking conspiracy. smh

P.S. There are two very poignant scenes in the movie where Pilger interviews both a CIA automaton and a member of the Chilean bourgeoisie. I would like you to pay attention to the disdain and contempt with which both individuals view the humble working class man. Honestly compadres, this level of hatred eludes me.
